A preemptive “sorry,” as we just found out that Wilson Combat officially discontinued the Professional Shotgun on Jan. 11, 2021. It will forever be in our hearts. Here’s the original story:
If you Google “Wilson Combat Professional,” the results pretty much center on some variation of the Professional pistol series. You’ll get reviews on the 9mm Protector Professional pistol or quick looks at the Carry Comp Professional or Ultralight Carry Professional. However, nothing really comes up on the Wilson Combat Professional Shotgun, which is a specimen. So we figured we’d take a quick look at the 12-gauge.
Wilson Combat Professional Shotgun Details
A couple of aspects stand out with the Professional Shotgun. Firstly, it is a short-barreled shotgun, according to the ATF. Why? Because it has a barrel length of just 14 inches, which comes in less than the legal 18 inches. Positive: That 14-inch barrel lends itself nicely as a home-defense weapon. Negative: You also now need that pesky $200 tax stamp.
Moving on to the front of the shotgun and we find the SureFire Tactical Forend; it includes a 200 to 600 Lumen light. Again, home-defense sees a nice bump from this addition. The light makes for quick target acquisition and identification in low light situations.
Other standouts are the two sights, which include an adjustable Trak–Lock Ghost Ring Rear Sight and Ramp-Type Front Sight with a Tritium Insert. Then there’s the sidesaddle. Wilson used an Aluminum Shell Carrier by Mesa Tactical, which allows for up to an additional six rounds. With the shotgun’s 5+1 capacity, that’s 12 rounds ready to go at a moment’s notice.
Lastly is the item on everyone’s mind when they see “Wilson” and that’s MSRP. Base price for the Professional Shotgun starts at $1,550. There are plenty of other goodies melted into that price tag that we didn’t mention here. For even more info, please visit WilsonCombat.com.
