We, at Ballistic, love guns. We also love alcohol. The two aren’t necessarily related, but we fancy ourselves alcohol aficionados. We got on the subject of strange alcohol with our friend Lauren Young, who decided to add to the conversation. Here’s what she found.

RELATED STORY

The 10 Best Scotch Bottles to Drink Before You Die

How does one define strange alcohol? Well, some of these have beyond outlandish names, while others are made with ingredients that might test your gag reflex. Who knows? Maybe you’ll thank the alcohol gods these exist. To each their own.

Whether or not you will actually want to try some of these items remains to be seen. You might as well get a good chuckle (or a cringe) by checking out this list:

Ivanabitch Tobacco-Flavored Vodka

Ivanabitch Tobacco-Flavored Vodka

I wish I were making this one up. So not only do they have one of the most ridiculous names, they are also offering you a unique experience in drinking tobacco-flavored vodka. But that is not all. It is offered in two flavors. The first, is the good ol’ original taste of tobacco — yum! However, the second is a menthol tobacco flavor for all of you folks who enjoy a little spearmint with your peppercorn. For more information, please visit Ivanabitch.com.

Smirnoff Penka

Smirnoff Penka

Stay with me. You read this, as I did, and don’t really know what makes this so unbelievable. Well, turns out the word “Penka” when translated from Russian to English reads in a few different ways: Scum, skin, or foam. A pretty broad meaning, and if it were a beer maybe the “foam” part wouldn’t seem so bad. Did I also mention this was intended to be a “premium brand”? It might taste great, but the name seems to have missed the mark.

This might shock you, but I am pretty sure it is no longer available.

Seaman’s Shot Extra Hot

Seaman's Shot Extra Hot

Did you just throw up in your mouth? Because I too just threw up in my mouth. A vodka made with menthol, eucalyptus, and liquorice. WHY?!? Not sure if you can get this in the U.S., though I am not sure you’d want to.

Mansinthe Absinthe

Mansinthe Absinthe

Mansinthe Absinthe — try saying that 10 times fast. Is there nothing Marilyn Manson can’t do? While the name is a bit egomaniacal, from the research I did, it has received very high marks. Is anyone else surprised that the liquor of choice was this one? Me neither. Anyway this exists and, dare I say, the art on the bottle is actually pretty sweet.

Donkey Piss Tequila

Donkey Piss Tequila

No, really. While most people see this and think something along the lines of, “I’ll stick with Jose,” the creators of Donkey Piss Tequila felt otherwise. I am assuming they did this ironically knowing that if anyone requests this at a bar it will certainly garner a lot of attention, and potentially initiate conversation and perhaps some judgmental stares. Either way, I am sure they had no issues trademarking their name.

Anty Gin

Anty Gin, bottle, strange alcohol
Anty Gin, ants, strange alcohol

If you were wondering, yes, this gin is made from actual ants. However, if you’re curious enough to try it, you might not be disappointed. This gin has actually won awards. According to the makers, “Each bottle of Anty Gin contains the essence of approximately 62 red wood ants, along with hand-forged botanicals including juniper, wild wood avens and nettle that complement the sharp citrus notes created by distilling the ants.”

You read that correctly; dead distilled ants taste like lemon-lime citrusy deliciousness. One bottle is going for a whopping 200 GBP ($243 USD) and they are completely sold out. As someone who has willingly gulped down a whole scorpion and a tequila worm at some point in her life, I am willing to also give this one a try. Besides, I do love a good gin.
