Ignorance can truly be bliss. What am I referencing? Most have no idea what they’re missing in terms when it comes to optics offered by Riton Optics. Riton produces one of the most diverse lineups of rifle scopes, binoculars, and red dots on the market. Most in our community hold strongly to preconceived notions regarding optics. There are times when one must get past these set beliefs to truly appreciate what another product may offer. Such is the case with Riton, specifically its X5 Tactix scope.

Riton X3 Tactix: First Look at Riton’s New, Fast-Acquiring Rifle Scope

Riton Foundations and the Riton X5 Tactix

I spent quality time spent with Riton at the 2020 Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous near Driggs, Idaho. Law enforcement and military veteran Brady Speth, along with his wife Carrie Speth, founded Riton Optics in 2013 in Tucson, Ariz. The goal was to bring quality and affordability to the optics industry. There’s a difference between “affordable” and “cheap”— and there’s nothing cheap about Riton Optics. I tested multiple Riton products at on the firing line at the Athlon Rendezvous.

One product in particular had me lingering with it in my hands—the X5 Tactix 1-6×24 scope. It features daylight bright illumination and capped, zero resettable turrets. The X5 Tactix 1-6Ă—24 illuminated, first focal plane (FFP) TF-1 reticle allows for quick accurate ranging, as well as the ability to utilize bullet drop compensation (BDC) for most AR-10 and AR-15 platforms.

The Riton X5 Tactix also offers a 1x illuminated reticle setting for quick target acquisition at close range with both eyes open. A quick turn of the knob to 6x enables longer precision shots. The ability to access 6x while still being able to use an illuminated dot at 1x is a force multiplier.

Scope Features

Riton loaded the scope with high-end features. The features start with a 30mm aircraft grade aluminum tube with high transmittance glass for outstanding light transmission and clarity. Beyond that is an integrated removable throw lever, 0.5 MOA windage/elevation adjustment, fast focus eyepiece, and six levels of red illumination with on/off space between each setting. Riton assembles the X5 Tactix in an EP-level clean room. The scope is also 100 percent waterproof, fog-proof, and shockproof (tested up to 1,200 Gs).

The TF-1 diamond reticle is one of the best-designed reticles I’ve comes across. A reticle such as the TF-1 with multiple hashmarks allows for maximum flexibility. The growing popularity of the .300 BLK chambering that features both subsonic and supersonic ammo is a good example. With an optic such as the X5 Tactix 1-6×24, the shooter can establish multiple hold points just in case they’re forced to switch rapidly between two different loads. Once sighted, in a user can take note of where each load strikes relative to each other and adjust accordingly.

Riton X5 Tactix 1-6x24 FFP Rifle Scope review, range

Riton designed the X5 Tactix 1-6x for two uses. Firstly, the scope is good for instinctive close-range situations thanks to daylight bright illuminated reticle. Secondly, it still allows shooters to engage targets with greater precision at longer ranges thanks to the 6x.

Combat experiences since 9/11 served as the catalyst for new optic types like the X5 Tactix compared to non-magnified red dot or fixed powered magnified optics. For police, military, civilian or private security contractor, the X5 Tactix is worthy for consideration as it enhances rifle performance.

Riton X5 Tactix Final Thoughts

In Idaho, I fired an AR with the Riton X5 Tactix optic out to 400 yards. It produced consistent hits out on steel targets placed downrange. Its crisp image aided in spotting the targets with accurate fire.

With budgets constantly under pressure, a quality rifle with a Riton X5 Tactix 1-6x24mm optic could be the answer to fulfilling a multitude of roles—DMR, general-purpose patrol rifle, CQB/entry weapon. This is a reflection on how the X5 Tactix positively influences the user/weapon equation. For more info, please visit RitonOptics.com.
