There was an incredible array of products at the 2019 Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous — you know, that private event we won’t shut up about. Our short list of favorites includes the Umarex AirSaber bolt-action arrow rifle, the SIG Cross bolt-action rifle, and LMT’s 37mm Golf Ball Launcher. We saved one of the best for last: the EOTech LWTS (Light Weapon Thermal Sight).
EOTech LWTS Details
Let’s just get this out of the way before it starts: MSRP on the LWTS is $15,099. There’s no misprint. We didn’t mistakenly put the comma in the wrong place. It’s a five-figure thermal, which obviously isn’t for the “common” shooter. But it’s worth every single penny. Perhaps the EOTech 512 might be more in line with what you’re looking for (it’s also awesome).
The clip-on LWTS optic system mounts in front of any day optics and allows shooters to view their reticle over the thermal image. Shooters can also use the LWTS as a handheld observation tool or mounted by itself as a stand-alone weapon sight, so it’s incredibly versatile. From EOTech:
The thermal imaging capability of the LWTS allows for long-wave infrared observation and target identification under adverse conditions including, light rain, smoke, light snow and low light to total darkness.
EOTech’s New G45.STS 5X Magnifier
At the AO Rendezvous, we added the LWTS to a rifle with the EOTech EXPS3 Holographic Weapon Sight and the brand-new EOTech G45.STS 5X Magnifier. Part of the reason we had to wait to unveil this video is because the G45 was under wraps, but we’ve been given the OK to share that with you as well. The G45 measures 3.7 inches x 2.15 inches x 3 inches and weighs 12.85 ounces. Like the battle-tested G33 magnifier, the G45 features a switch-to-side mount, but also has an additional 2X magnification for precision aiming at greater distances.
