If we had to describe Desert Tech in one word, it would be “creative.” The manufacturer’s HTI (Hard Target Interdiction) rifle is a perfect example of that creativeness.
Desert Tech built its HTI rifle “at specific military customer request to provide extreme long range accuracy with irrevocable penetration,” it says. The “irrevocable penetration” is something we can speak directly to.
Serious Power With the Desert Tech HTI
We recently got our hands on the HTI chambered in .375 CheyTac at the 2019 Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous in Idaho. One of our contributors punched a hole through steel with the HTI. Not that special until we tell you they did it at one mile. Yeah, now it’s pretty damn impressive. Upon inspecting targets after Day One, we got out to the mile marker and saw the hole. “What the hell could’ve done that?” an editor asked in the brisk Idaho air. An immediate and simultaneous response came from the two other editors on hand: “Desert Tech.”
Also, we say “one of our contributors” because multiple people took credit for the shot. For now, we’ll chalk it up to the collective “we” as an impressive hit.
Desert Tech built the rifle for precision rifle competitions, however, it’s also become popular amongst big game hunters and shooting enthusiasts. The manufacturer chambered the rifle in .375 CheyTac (which we shot), .408 CheyTac, .416 Barrett, and the venerable .50 BMG. Easily convertible between multiple big-bore calibers, the HTI is accurate to 2,000-plus yards with any of its chamberings. It’s also incredibly compact with an overall length of around 45 inches.
Watch above as we take the HTI out for a spin at the Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous. For more information, please visit DesertTech.com.
