Take a look at these durable, weatherproof packs and bags designed to withstand any outdoor adventure.
The Pawn comes from Chrome Industries’ WWII-inspired Militia line. It is a 100-percent welded-waterproof rolltop backpack that is designed to help haul wetsuits and beer to and from the beach. Because of its 100-percent welded-waterproof main compartment, we think it’s the perfect candidate to keep your stuff dry, even in a heavy downpour. An inner zippered compartment keeps wet and dry items separate. Its outside pockets are equipped with stainless-steel hardware for convenient access to small items. This particular pack is guaranteed for life.

The All Elements Pack’s durable, waterproof construction makes it ideal for storing gear that you want to keep dry. It is made with a waterproof material and features a roll-top that locks out moisture. A water-resistant front zippered pocket allows instant access to small items. The pack’s interior has a removable liner that features a laptop sleeve, tablet sleeve, and two zippered pockets. Its robust shoulder and sternum straps are designed for comfort and proper fit.

Whether you’re camping in the snow or escaping a hurricane, the Stormfront Roll Top Pack will keep your gear dry no matter the situation. Its 100-percent waterproof PU exterior coating and TPU-coated nylon interior are combined with fully welded construction to help withstand extreme wet weather. Its padded shoulder straps and waist belt are lined with mesh for comfort. A water-resistant exterior pocket is easy to access as are lash points and rod-tube holders.
Color: Feather Grey
Dimensions: 21.5” x 11.5” x 6”
Weight: 2 lbs. 8 oz.
Capacity: 30L
MSRP: $149

The bottom of the Advanced Special Operations bag is lined with a durable waterproof material that keeps your gear dry in very wet situations. It has an extra-large main opening that opens wide to engulf large pieces of equipment and an outer pocket that features an RFID-blocking material that is sized to fit phones, passports and credit cards. The other end of the bag is fitted with a pocket that is lined with MOLLE and Velcro for quick access to a pistol, magazines or a medical kit.
Color: Tan (shown), eight additional colors

Weight: 4 lbs. 4 oz.
Capacity: 56L
MSRP: $249.95

The 16” Grid Premium Backpack’s main compartment has a weather-resistant zipper and its bottom panel is reinforced with extra padding that keeps its interior dry with a weather-resistant material. Its fully padded exterior and lined interior can protect a laptop from a 4-foot drop. The interior can hold 32 liters of gear, broken down into two main compartments and three external pockets. Padded, adjustable shoulder straps and an aerated padded back ensure a comfortable fit.
Color: Black

You just weathered the largest storm that you’ve ever been in. You survived high-powered winds, torrential downpour, and even massive landslides and biblical levels of flooding. Some call it the storm of the century, you just thank your lucky stars that you and your family made it through intact.

With the governor calling a state of emergency, you don’t know when assistance will arrive. It’s a good thing you had the foresight to prepare for the worst by gathering and storing gear and provisions that will keep you and your family supplied until things normalize.

You go to check on your survival packs and it dawns on you. With exception to the items that came encased in watertight plastic bags, most everything else you packed is water logged to the point that it is unusable or has been otherwise destroyed by the elements. You realize that the bags you packed your survival gear in were not suitable to keep things dry, which, as it turns out, was crucial.

That’s just the nightmare scenario that might happen if you don’t store your survival gear in packs that are designed to be weatherproof. Not only is it important that you prepare for the unimaginable, but you also need to make sure what gear you prepare is ready when you need it the most. Weatherproof packs can help minimize damage and even protect your food, tools, and other survival items from the elements, especially from wet weather.

We’ll take a look at a few weatherproof packs that can help you protect your gear in situations such as the average rainy day or large-scale events as epic as the mother of all storms. Remember that it’s a good idea to double up and pack your gear in watertight plastic bags even when packing them in
bags that are billed as being weatherproof – just in case.
